What does a Doula do?

As a Birth With Spirit trained doula, I provide evidence-based information and compassionate support through your entire birthing experience, allowing you to have access to the knowledge and choices you want for your family's journey. Whether you're first time parents, chosen family, adoption seeking, struggling with what decision you want to make, or on baby #7, my support is unconditional and whole-person centered. I believe we each deserve the autonomy and right to make the decisions we want, and should have access to the information we need during this pivotal time.

I've always been drawn to caring for others, but particularly to moms and babies. From the earliest time I can remember, I've been drawn to babies and was obsessed with the idea of pregnancy and birth. After hearing stories from friends and family about their birthing experiences, and how they felt stripped of the ability to make their own decisions, I became curious about becoming a doula.

“Chanel is an amazing doula! She was just what we needed to give me the birth experience that I have always wanted. She was so patient and kind with us. She is the sweetest.

Chanel helped us prepare by coming to our house to meet up and get to know each other better, gave us exercises to do to help prepare and get baby in the best position for birth. During labor she was there by my side. She helped get me in different positions, different things to try to help ease the pain, offering me water without having to ask and just knowing my every need before I even could voice them. Giving my husband the break that he needed to go get food and she was right there easing my pain the whole time! She even helped us get settled after baby was here and made sure we had everything we needed.

She checked in on us once we were home and made sure everything was going well and even gave us a much needed date night a few months out, it was so needed and AMAZING! She is the best! I just wish I had her for my first two births!”
